Andersonville's summer calendar usually reads front-loaded. Midsommarfest hits the second weekend of June, the Sidewalk Sale clears out July, and residents assume August is a coast. This year the coast has three new storefronts on it, all inside a six-block stretch of Clark, and one Wednesday night designed to let you eat your way past every one of them.
The thesis for the back half of summer is simple. The Clark Street corridor turned over faster than usual between fall 2025 and spring 2026, and August 12 is the first evening the new roster and the old guard are on the same ticket. If you live here, that is the plan.
The three storefronts that changed hands
Three addresses on Clark are running different names than they were a year ago. Two of the changes happened inside the last ten months, one is still in progress, and all three sit on a walkable line between Foster and Bryn Mawr.

The Devil Dawgs at 5259 N. Clark took over half of the former Reza's, a Persian restaurant that had anchored the block for years before closing in 2023, and it now runs the standard menu of Chicago dogs, jumbo spicy sausage, and Italian beef. De Colores Mexican Grill is Edgewater Tacos owner Patricia Guerrero's second concept, going into 5403 N. Clark after Cescas Margarita Bar & Grill closed following a ten-year run, and unlike her Broadway shop it will have real seating and a rear patio. And at 5721 N. Clark, the West Town operator Noble Thai is taking the old Parson's Chicken & Fish building, which comes with a full bar, dining room, and the large patio on the north end of the corridor.
Read the three together and a pattern emerges. Each incoming operator is bringing a full sit-down footprint into a space the previous tenant had already scaled up. Guerrero explicitly framed De Colores as a step up from Edgewater Tacos' pickup-and-sidewalk model, Noble Thai is jumping from a single West Town storefront to Parson's patio-heavy layout, and Devil Dawgs slotted into a space that seated a full Persian dining room. The corridor is not adding counter service. It is trading it out for tables.
Wednesday, August 12, mapped the way a resident should walk it
The Taste of Andersonville runs 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, with check-in beginning at 3 p.m. outside the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce headquarters at 5344 N. Clark St. Three routes are on offer this year: the Scarf & Snarf, the Dine & Dash, and the All You Can Eat combo that stacks both. More than twenty stops are on the map.
Here is the honest sequencing:
- Check in early. The Chamber opens the desk at 3 p.m., two hours before tastings start. Use the gap to walk two blocks west to the Andersonville Farmers Market at 1500 W. Winona and the adjacent AT&T lot, which opens at 3 and runs Wednesdays through October 21.
- Anchor south, then walk north. Nothing Bundt Cakes at 4918 N. Clark and Devil Dawgs at 5259 N. Clark are the southernmost stops on the participant list. Start there and you spend the rest of the night walking uphill on the map.
- Cluster the middle. Between 5300 and 5500 N. Clark you can hit Kopi Cafe, Big Jones, Replay, Bar Roma, Lady Gregory's, ENJOY (with The Dinner Belle), Pizza Lobo, Minyoli, FIYA, and Uvae Kitchen and Wine Bar without a block of dead walking between them.
- Save Ranalli's for the detour. The Ranalli's of Andersonville stop is on Berwyn at 1512 W., a half-block off the main strip, and it's the easiest one to skip if the routes run long.
- End at FOLK or Rivers and Roads. FOLK at 5668 N. Clark and Rivers and Roads (pouring at the Chamber headquarters at 5706 N. Clark) put you near Noble Thai's future address on your way home.
Advance ticket pricing runs $35 for a single route and $65 for the All You Can Eat combo, and the Chamber has confirmed a price bump on Monday, August 4, moving single routes to $40 and the combo to $70. If you are on the fence, the fence has a deadline.
The Aug 4 price jump is the only planning trigger in the August calendar that actually rewards moving early. Everything else, from the Vintage Markets to the Garden Party, holds its cost.
The events that carry the rest of the month
The Chamber's published August calendar puts something on Clark almost every weekend.
- Vintage Market on Sunday, August 9 and Sunday, August 23 at the Chamber's usual outdoor footprint
- Rooted in Song and Resistance at Bramble on Monday, August 10 with two performances at 6 and 8 p.m.
- Bingofesten on Tuesday, August 11, the second-Tuesday cadence the Chamber runs year-round
- Taste of Andersonville on Wednesday, August 12 from 5 to 8 p.m.
- The Garden Party at The Nook on Sunday, August 30 from noon to 3 p.m.
- Farmers Market every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. through October 21
Three of those, Bingofesten on the 11th, Taste on the 12th, and the Vintage Market on the 9th, fall inside the same five-day window. If you time it right, you can hit a Sunday flea, a Tuesday bingo hall, and a Wednesday tasting walk without using a single car.
What the turnover says about Clark Street
Three sit-down concepts replacing three sit-down concepts inside twelve months on the same corridor is not churn. It is a signal that the rent, the foot traffic, and the residential density above the storefronts still support full-service operators, even after the closures. Parson's had a patio worth taking over. Cescas held for a decade before turning the keys. Reza's ran long enough to become a landmark. The buildings kept working. The tenants rotated.
For anyone who has lived on the north end of the neighborhood, the Noble Thai lease is the one worth watching. That patio has been the most-used outdoor dining room north of Bryn Mawr for three summers, and it is the piece of the corridor most exposed to seasonal foot traffic. Whether Noble Thai keeps it open through fall will tell you more about the direction of the strip than any storefront count.
The short version for August: the Farmers Market Wednesdays are your baseline, the 12th is your one night to compare the old roster and see the buildings the new roster will occupy, and the Garden Party on the 30th is the soft close on summer before Arts Weekend on September 25 through 27 and the Fall Wine Walk on the 27th reset the calendar.
Andersonville has always been a corridor you walk rather than drive. This August it is also a corridor mid-rewrite, and the walk is how you read it.
